Digging a little deeper, on NBA.com, his D rating there is 104.9, which is 1.6 points better than the team rating. (For those pining for Gasol or JaMychal Green, both have been terrible). His net rating is a +.8, pretty good for being on a terrible team. With his combo of great length (7'+ wingspan), strength, and quick feet, he has the physical profile to guard 1-2-3. You'd think just that + Brad Stevens would make him a net neutral on D at worst.Digging a little deeper, on NBA.com, his D rating there is 104.9, which is 1.6 points better than the team rating. I'm just going off stats as I haven't watched any Memphis games, but I'd stick with my claim that he's at least an average defender.
No thank you. He's all yours. It's being reported this morning that the Clips and Sweet Lou are nearing a deal. Last call guys
As long as they're selling off assets and officially tanking in the wake of the awful KP news, would you guys have any interest in Mike Beasley?
New York is finalizing trade to send center Willy Hernangomez to Charlotte, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Atlanta does have the Min and Hou picks this year so potentially could be a deal although I wouldn’t love it. I’m fully onboard Team Reke.Belinelli to Boston talks look like they are heating up. Swap for Smart with some draft picks changing hands?
He can shoot and create his own shot, but 103 out of 106 SG in DRPM and absolutely no help on the boards or passing the ball. No thanks.Belinelli to Boston talks look like they are heating up. Swap for Smart with some draft picks changing hands?
Mentioned him a few days ago. I think he would be a fantastic fit. Second unit of Rozier, Morris, Beasley, MonroeAs long as they're selling off assets and officially tanking in the wake of the awful KP news, would you guys have any interest in Mike Beasley?
Pass. He's not as good as Theis and he's not really worth giving up anyone else currently on the roster for.Mentioned him a few days ago. I think he would be a fantastic fit. Second unit of Rozier, Morris, Beasley, Monroe
I thought we were looking for scoring from the 2nd unit? Seems to me that a guy who does that exact thing would fit the billPass. He's not as good as Theis and he's not really worth giving up anyone else currently on the roster for.
Evans is the only guy rumored to be available I think could potentially make a real difference for this team. There are hints Dinwiddie might be available, and seeing if we could arrange some kind of Smart for Dinwiddie swap would also be appealing, but I think we probably would need to give up too much to make it happen. That's about it for me for guys that have been rumored to be available. We don't need to add a veteran 10th man who still thinks of himself as more than that.
I think Blake Griffin would say...not so fast my friend!Lou Williams signs a 3-year extension with the Clippers. So that dream is dead.
Third year is a team option, per Woj. Need to see the numbers, but seems like a potentially strange deal for him to take rather than hit free agency. Must be a big number.
You are wrong. We are looking for good basketball players.I thought we were looking for scoring from the 2nd unit? Seems to me that a guy who does that exact thing would fit the bill
Beasley is 53rd in PER and has basically the same TS% as Evans. For a second unit scorer, and at a salary of only 1.4 million, I see nothing wrong with him playing 15-20 minutes a night and doing his thing. You are wrong. We are looking for good basketball players.
Edit: At least, that's what I am hoping we are looking for.
How big would you consider big? I can't imagine Lou getting more than an MLE offer with the limited number of teams with cap space including all of the contenders. Those with space really woudn't have much use for him.Lou Williams signs a 3-year extension with the Clippers. So that dream is dead.

17? Ouch.Well, they gave Gallo 21 million and they seem to have money burning a hole in their pockets. I would guess it is 17M a year. They had to overpay to keep him from testing the market, and I am factoring in that these are the Clippers.
This is going to be considered an expensive deal come August.
That was a COMPLETELY different FA market than the summer of 2018. They are not comparable at all. If Lou could get one penny more than the MLE than I'm pretty certain he maximized his earning potential.Well, they gave Gallo 21 million and they seem to have money burning a hole in their pockets. Gallo's contract belongs with the likes of Evan Turner, Myers Leonard, and others from the 2016 summer. Amazing that LAC gave him that much. That was a COMPLETELY different FA market than the summer of 2018. They are not comparable at all. Unless I'm missing someone only Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Indiana, and the Lakers will be under the cap this summer. Why would any of these rebuilding teams overpay for Lou Williams when there are so many other options available?Wow, I would think his agent would push him to test trying to get a high paying one year deal on the open market rather than that chump change at this point. When I said 17 I guess I didn't realize he couldn't get much of a raise, similar to if IT would have signed an extension here last year.

Yep and the third year is only partially guaranteed at $1.5 million. That’s a really good deal for the Clippers. The twitterverse is saying Lou is in at 8 mill per
Woj said on radio last week that even if Williams signs deal he might still be dealt. It sets a different value on him now.Lou Williams signs a 3-year extension with the Clippers. So that dream is dead.

There's a rumor that the core of the deal would be Walker for IT and BRK #1. There would be flotsam and jetsam for salary purposes.Windhorst on ESPN Radio says Cavs are working hard on Kemba Walker.
I pray the Cavs do that deal. There's a rumor that the core of the deal would be Walker for IT and BRK #1. There would be flotsam and jetsam for salary purposes.
Kemba Walker is a really good basketball player.I pray the Cavs do that deal.
I know he is. He's one of my favorite players. But he doesn't keep LeBron in Cleveland and they would have given up the BKN pick.Kemba Walker is a really good basketball player.
Can't be traded for six months after signing an extension.Woj said on radio last week that even if Williams signs deal he might still be dealt. It sets a different value on him now.

I wonder if Denver can top this. Mudiay, Faried and a number one for Kemba and Kaminsky. Charlotte gets a lottery flier in Mudiay plus a pick and Faried for salary purposes. And Denver gets their long sought PG with very good scoring ability plus Kaminsky who is a body who occupies space. There's a rumor that the core of the deal would be Walker for IT and BRK #1. I would much rather have Nets #1 than Mudiay/Den #1. The latter seems like a poo poo platter trade.I wonder if Denver can top this. Mudiay, Faried and a number one for Kemba and Kaminsky. As a side note, Denver should be kicking themselves for the Lyles for Mitchell swap. Lyles doesn't suck but Mitchell is exactly what Denver needed...
I don't disagree in isolation but if I am trading Kemba Walker - whom I don't have to move and who has a great contract - the Nets pick plus IT's expiring is kind of light. At least with something like Mudiay and Faried, the Hornets get some other assets that can be moved next year alone or part of something else.I would much rather have Nets #1 than Mudiay/Den #1. Unfamiliar with the 6 man song by Drake? He’s only eligible for 3 years and $30 million and I’ll guess that’s probably what he got. Slightly more than the MLE but not a huge overpay for LAC. Maybe he could get more in free agency but maybe LA is where he wants to be.
I guess I don't see what is in it for the Hawks, unless maybe they view Smart as a building block guy moving forward, but not sure . Not to mention Smart actually makes them better this year which is counter productive.Idea:
Celtics get: Belinelli, 2018 Houston 1st, 2018 Minny 1st
Hawks get: Smart, 2019 Clippers 1st (and it’s wild protections)
Good for both teams yo.
The Nets are currently #7 but they’re only 1 game out of the worst record and #8 looks to be the lowest they’ll fall. If I’m Charlotte, I’m going for the package with the best upside, which to me is Nets pick if it’s offered. Mudiay isn’t cheap for much longer and a #20 pick or so isn’t that helpful to a team like Charlotte. They are going to be terrible if they trade Kemba so starting the rebuild with 2 top 10 picks is how I’d want to begin that process. Monk over Mitchell is going to haunt them forever as the former looks quite bustalicious.I don't disagree in isolation but if I am trading Kemba Walker - whom I don't have to move and who has a great contract - the Nets pick plus IT's expiring is kind of light. Walker is a bargain for what he does so trading him away for what amounts to the seventh or eighth pick in this year's draft doesn't feel like fair value. Maybe it is but if I am Charlotte, I want some diversification in case the pick I acquire doesn't pan out.
