WTF? Please tell this doesn't mean BB is already retiring? He needs to make up for the Butler fiasco. Or did Irsay do something stupid while drunk/high?

Did anyone else laugh hard in excitement and general hilariousness when you saw this news!?
Yes. And I got really excited b/c Josh is a damn good OC who just tore the fuck apart of a top 3 defense in the league. Glad he's sticking around, save your hand wringing about Belichick for when that day comes.

Well if TheoShmeo is right this probably means that Kraft will be firing Belichick any time now.

This has to mean something like BB has indicated only 1 more year. Why else would Josh stay?

This tells me BB's done after 2019 or 2020 and told McDaniels as much. What team would hire McDaniels after he embarrassed the Colts like this?

As a reminder, this is what Curran has written previously:

My best guess? He’ll wrap it up after the 2019 season, when he’ll be 68 and will have just completed 20 years in New England.

By that time, his oldest son Stephen, who just finished his first season as the team’s safeties coach, will be well-established with the team.

His youngest son, Brian, was a scouting assistant this year. If Brian’s aiming for personnel, he’ll be well on that road.

Hadn't Indy also announced the hiring of a couple of assistants with obvious Josh ties, DeGugliomo(sp?) as line coach comes to mind.

I never understood why he would leave anyway. Even if it meant waiting a few years. His situation is fantastic

I nominate Buck and Theo for the B.B. resigns thread mods. Just kidding. Mostly.

Not that they're in the same stratosphere, and I know what he's had to work with from both a personnel perspective and coaching staff support perspective, but Josh being around makes me a little less anxious about BB's eventual departure. The guy is a damn good coach, and can hopefully help make the bridge years not quite as awful as some might think they'll be. The brain drain feelings being discussed in other threads were definitely real to me, so pumped he's staying.

Any word on Judge staying? There were some rumblings this afternoon.
