Sad to lose both parents in such a short period of time. Maybe it'll make him a better person, realize life is short and being a giant asshole isn't the best way to spend your life.
Let's hope so. I'm betting he goes the other way. In theory, he's in line to get some money now, no?

I lost both of my parents in less than two months in the summer of '92. It was a near-devastating loss. The support of friends and family helped a lot, as did, in my own case, therapy. My heart goes out to him and his loved ones.

Kirk and Callahan are tweeting like crazy that they won the Spring "Boston" ratings, but I have a feeling that might be misleading.

It's funny that once they seem to have won a bookings quarter, they revert back to using the 18-54 age bracket. According to them they win every quarter, but this quarter they are even better since they really won.

Fake edit: man they even had an article as to why they won ready to go: http://www.weei.com/blogs/weei/daluz-5-reasons-why-kc-won-spring-ratings-book

Actual Edit: You weren't kidding. They can't do enough victory laps on Twitter. You'd think they'd won the lottery, not one out of the last 20 or whatever quarters. For Kirk being such a douche all the time, it's funny how much he's gloating in this since you can tell how much it really bothers him losing most books. It'll be interesting to see the numbers if they beat T&R by T&R losing listeners or they just had a great quarter and more people were listening to sports radio more overall.

Getting more people to stare at you while you are shitting in your pants still means you are shitting in your pants.

I really can't listen to these guys at all. They don't talk sports, only sports drama. They were trying to grab headlines with Marshall and succeeded, I guess. I'm sure it was on deadspin.

That said, I finally got around to the post-Super Bowl Inside the NFL today and Marshall could only talk about how the Falcons blew it, refusing to credit the Pats. Fuck that guy.

I turned on the morning show today on my drive to work.

Brady recently compared people who deny a holistic approach to fitness and medicine to climate change deniers, and implied that there is an established industry who profits from the status quo, which is why there is a resistance to the science behind both climate change and holistic fitness.

Callahan started complaining about this, and Kirk was happy to join in. Callahan said "I don't know about you, but I like oil. I use it." They then called Brady a hypocrite because he probably uses oil too, and therefore he's not allowed to be critical of climate change deniers. They then said that Brady sounds like a "limousine liberal" for acknowledging that climate change is a thing.

Jesus those two are awful. They can't go a single show without spouting ignorant "conservative" rhetoric and and being totally condescending about it, as if they hold the obviously superior intellectual position and moral high ground on everything. Puke.

He must have been told to go home in the middle of the broadcast today, because he wasn't there when I tuned in at around 8:00 a.m.

Man, what a miserable human being he is -- digging his own grave even at the pinnacle of success.

Hopefully he quits. I heard about a minute of his Sporty bIt which was horrible radio.
i disagree I actually found it kinda entertaining. It was clearly a reaction to the Red Sox apparently calling entercom.

Like him or hate him. Agree or disagree with him. The Red Sox should not have any control of what is said about them on a talk show.

Ya I hate him too, but have to admit it was pretty funny.
Maybe it was just me then. Basically prank calling legitimate reporters around the country (on shit they don't care about) and mocking and shitting on them without them being in on it? I get the point he was making with Entercom, but bringing in people who have nothing to do to it and mocking them I don't think is good radio.

It's funny after all the shit that goes on in the mornings at WEEI, this recent outburst is what the Red Sox finally called about on their flag ship station?

The hilarious thing to me about the "Sporty McGee" bit is that just five years ago Minihane challenged Fred Toucher to a dead serious "SPORTS DEBATE!!" Anything he says is all just shtick.

Minihane is 100% convinced that the people want The Real Housewives of Entercom and I couldn't give two shits. I don' t listen at all anymore, but do they ever talk honest-to-goodness, between-the-lines sports?

The height of deflategate will always be the morning show's Flowers for Algernon. Upon reflection, it's the only time I've shared KKKallahan's persecution complex, so if the listener wasn't in that demo, then I'm sure it's just been a steady stream of the same old bullshit.

I will admit I liked his podcast for a while, but I've stopped listening just so I don't boost his download numbers.

I sometimes turn them on on my 15 minute drive to work to see if maybe, just maaaybe they can go 15 minutes without the show devolving into really boring, pointless, self-centered drivel. Rarely do they make it to the five minute mark.

the Sporty thing was unlistenable. once I realized he just gonna do the same bit with five different guys I turned it off. what was amusing was seeing all his stooges pretend it was the funniest thing they've ever heard (because if they didn't he would turn them into one of his fake radio "enemies")

Not sure if this is the thread to put it in, or if it's even threadworthy, but Mike Mutnansky was popped for a DUI last week in Saratoga. I know he's filled in on K&C a few times since then. Even yesterday, I believe.

It's only interesting because of how much they make light of Mutt's drinking on the show. They play clips of him sounding fairly inebriated on the air. And he seems to happily go along with it. Not sure how this affects an on-air radio personality. Will be interesting to see how Kirk and/or Gerry respond to it now that it's public.

Kirk's podcast is extremely hit or miss. His new episode with Dale Arnold is a good one. Dale is very honest about his 2011 firing and his feelings towards everyone involved. WEEI really fucked that guy over. Never been a big fan of Dale's, but no one deserves to be screwed with by his employer like he was.

Around 7:30 this morning, K&C (with Tangy sauce) were discussing their evening at the premier of Stronger (the Jeff Bauman/Marathon bombing film) and Gerry opined that "Jake Gyllenhall might be this generation's best actor."

Paraphrasing, he praised Gyllenhall's performance, his bravery for taking on the role, and how much he enjoyed the film. He then asked, "what else has he been in?"

Kirk: "Brokeback Mountain."

Gerry: ... (silence) ... "um, I haven't seen that."

Tangy then says, "isn't this generation's best actor Matt Damon? He's been in blockbusters, been nominated..."

Gerry: "Has Gyllenhall been nominated? He should be for this film."

Kirk: "Yes, he was nominated for Brokeback Mountain."

Gerry: ... (silence) ... "I haven't seen that. Ewww. No, I'm never seeing that."

Kirk: "But it's a great movie and it supports your opinion on Gyllenhall being a great actor."

Gerry: (quickly) "I'm never seeing that."

It was HILARIOUS. Gay panic in audio form. Just before this, Callahan had been talking in glowing terms about having talked to Gyllenhall at the party, about how Gyllenhall was "the best" at engaging people in conversation, how good a time he had talking to him, etc.

And then he nearly swallowed his tongue when he realized he'd been praising a guy who played "the gay cowboy." You could hear him thinking furiously about whether he caught the gay when he shook hands with Gyllenhall the previous evening.

This almost makes me wish I was attending the premiere. Had I seen their I absolutely would have conversation in person, I would have mowed everyone down in my path in hopes of of cutting in and saying to JG "I *LOVED* you in *BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN*! You were robbed of an Oscar for *BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN*! You changed my life with *BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN*!"

Likely I'd have needed bail money. But seeing the look on KKKallahan's face as he excused himself to wash the gay off would have been worth it.

GC even tweeted a pick of him and Gyllenhall together.

So, he praises JG as being this generations best actor, yet can't come up with one other movie that he's been in? That's a strong take.

You missed the great segment for the first half hour about Jemele Hill and reverse racism, loving Trump and hot takez. I had it on during a T&R commercial and couldn't even make it 3 minutes. Tanguay, Kirk and Callahan talking about social issues is so awful. It's not even the fact I don't agree with them, it's just awful radio and hot take central.

IF SHE SAID THIS ABOUT OBAMA SHED BE FIRED!!!!
SHES NOT BEING FIRED BECAUSE SHES BLACK!
BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD BE CALLING FOR HER FIRING BECAUSE SHE'S NOT BEING FIRED BECAUSE SHE'S BLACK AND MAKING THE NORMAL BLACK PEOPLE LOOK BAD!!!!

Rinse and repeat.

Jemele hill sucks and I'm in no way defending her. She should be fired for being awful.

Michael Rappaport is apparently gonna be on tomorrow. That should be an absolute train wreck segment.

I'm not a big fan of the show, but the profile of Hill that The Ringer did today was pretty interesting. Sounds like she worked her way up through the sports journalism world and overcame immense poverty and a pretty dire situation in her childhood. All the evidence about to her seems to contradict Gerry's take, but to a miserable, mouth-breathing bigot any black woman expressing an opinion is a spoiled brat.

So if that's a fireable offense--not just suspendable, but firable--why does KKKallahan get to have a job after the whole METCO thing?
Because he mistakenly told his truth. Jemele was blatant. I'm sure you can see the difference!

There is literally nothing in the world that upsets him more than white people being accused of racism.
BTW, this is the fucking truth. For a guy who claims to be so tough and above it all, there are a lot (and I mean A LOT) of things that trigger Gerry KKKalahan.

Because John Dennis actually said it?

Speaking of, I happened to tune in this morning as they were reading and "analyzing" John Dennis's tweets about a dream he had last night. It sounded exactly as you're imagining it.

Treni must be desperate for a paycheck to go on with these guys on a regular basis. Listened for 5 minutes this morning and wow was that bad. As JMOH said, Callahan is out of his mind around whites being racist.

It has to be frustrating to be interrupted by K or C every time she tries to answer a question or make a point.

I'm sure that Callahan's take on the NFL protesting today was measured, empathetic and explored what it's really like to be a POC in America today.

I caught some of it because they had Brady on this morning and they did a good job at least getting Brady to admit he disagreed with Trump's remarks. Callahan's takes were pretty awful but Minihane did an okay job forcing him to elaborate on it. Honestly, Matt Light probably has the worst take I heard this morning on the show. They also went after the low-hanging fruit of people who criticized Alejandro Villanueva to score some points.

I just got an alert on my phone that Red Sox Round table was broadcasting live on WEEI. Cool, I thought. I'd like to hear some more discussion before the series starts tomorrow.

As soon as I tune in, Kirk is screaming at Michael Holley, accusing him of calling him a klansman on the air in a previous broadcast. I Turned it right off. They are now ruining other shows on the station.

In between speculating about how awesome it would be if the Las Vegas shooter was named Mohammed, these two "promoted" the roundtable broadcast by talking about how "no one cares about baseball" and plotted out how they were gonna ambush the other hosts and talk about their petty personal grudges.

Because what listeners really want is the Real Housewives of WEEI starring Kirk and Gerry.
