A few thoughts on the trade proposal.
How many times have we heard trade rumours around the Cs and nothing ends up being done? Danny has always asked for a motherlode and unless he has a temporary break from reality, he's not doing this trade unless he sees a clear win for the Cs, So here's a couple of ways he might see a win.
One: while he likes Fultz, he loves Porter, Ayton, or Doncic. I mean even if Fultz is going to be Kyrie Irving, maybe DA thinks that any of Porter, Ayton, or Doncic could be a cornerstone piece and is willing to settle for one of Jackson, Fox, or Smith to increase the Cs odds of getting a cornerstone piece.
Two: Jackson isn't a nothingburger. I mean yes there are questions about his game right now but two things aren't in question: (1) he's a world class athlete - perhaps not with power like JB or LBJ but with explosiveness and (2) he plays as hard as any college superstar we've seen recent memory. Jackson is going to have a long NBA career for somebody.
Three: Jackson is really a smokescreen and what DA is thinking that there isn't really all that much difference between Fultz, Fox, or Dennis Smith Jr. Remember that DA has said in the past that he and his staff have been watching all of these guys for years so that one workout isn't really going to change much in their minds. It's funny that we all love Fultz but Fox is clearly the quickest of the guards being projeted in the lottery and DSJ the most explosive. Plus DSJ can shoot.
At the end of the day I think this is another case of talking happening but nothing ending up being done which will be fine the first time we see Zizac throw an outlet pass to Fultz who throws an alley-oop to JB in summer league.
The Cs summer league team is going to be awfully fun to watch.
