Photo aggregating and purging

Is there any program that is able to aggregate photos while automatically purging duplicates? I'd like to move all my photos to the Cloud -- and I have plenty of options for places -- but don't want to end up with hundreds of duplicates as they are imported from different sources (desktop, laptop, external drives, multiple phones, etc)? Ideally, I'd like to have one drive at my office with ALL my photos, purged, and then be able to back that drive up in one swell foop to the Cloud.

Bonus points if this aggregating source program makes for easy file management of similar photos.

I live in a MAC world, including iPhones, if it matters.

As long as it's being discussed... I'd love to find the same thing in a Windows environment.

Google's Photos app does this. It'll use picture recognition to identify similar images and ask you which you want to keep.

It really is the best that I'm aware of. It's a pretty fantastic tool: aggregates, has light touch-up/correction tools. The searchability is impressive and useful (if a bit creepy*): e.g. I search for 'wine' and every returned photo has a glass of wine somewhere in the shot, or a wine bottle.

(*a statement that applies to most google products).

If you let Google Photos have at all your pics, will you lose their original size?

With original size photos you only have an allocated storage amount (15gb default Drive space iirc) and have to pay for extra space, when needed.
Unless you have a Pixel: then you get unlimited full resolution backups.

Edit: for photos/video taken with the phone, if that wasn't clear).
