The debate over if McCown is an upgrade from Fitz is equivalent to arguing which pile of fecal matter is less pungent.

Culling through the various tweets since the signing, I found this one from Chris Towers to fit my viewpoint.

Josh McCown is 2-20 with 26 fumbles and 24 interceptions since that fluke half-season when Alston and Marshall carried him to relevance.

McCown has a worse career QB ranking and many of the stats are equally horrible for both QBs. I am not sure a Cleveland castoff is anything more than a cheap placeholder until the Jets can tank themselves into a decent draft position in 2018.

Not football related but brief conversation I had with the kids on our recent road trip as we cruise down the NJ turnpike with MetLife stadium in the foreground

Kid 1 - dad, did you fart?
Me - nope. We're in the state of New Jersey
Kid 2 - I didn't even know New Jersey was a state
Me - exactly.

You have raised them well. I live here and ask my wife the same thing on a weekly basis.

Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson is being charged with resisting arrest with violence and also obstruction of justice after an incident at a music festival in Miami
He's doing his part for the great NYJ Tankathon of 2017-2018 season: https://www.profootballrumors.com/2017/05/jets-wr-robby-anderson-arrested-in-miami
Anderson, who turns 24 on Tuesday, was one of the Jets’ few bright spots in 2016. In his rookie year, he had 42 catches, 587 yards, and two touchdowns, a solid showing for an undrafted free agent. Anderson is projected to take on a larger role in the Jets’ offense this season following Brandon Marshall‘s defection, but this incident may lead to league discipline that keeps him off the field for a period in 2017.

Anybody have a sense of how exactly Brandon Marshall made the locker room less harmonious? Like...is Sheldon Richardson an undisciplined dick so Brandon was a pain bc he expected more from the younger players? Or is Marshall just a polarizing a-hole?

First round busts are the new market inefficiency.

On another note, it's incredible how quickly this team has gone from seeming to be on its way up with a non-moronic coach and a competent journeyman QB to back to being a dumpster fire.

Dolphins fans, take note.

Bowles is a good coach IMO. He brought a badly-needed level of professionalism to the team in his first year. The problem was that the Jets Jetsed up the QB question in absolutely the most Jets-like fashion possible last year. And Revis fell off a cliff.

I can't see them doing much of anything with McCown as QB, so the circle of Jets life continues.

Bowles has to get a pass for the 2017 season. They got rid of a lot of veterans and are trying to rebuild. You can't fire a coach after taking away a lot of his veteran help. He has no QB which isn't his fault.

He should get a pass; I doubt he will, though. They went 5-11 last year; if they go 3-13 in 2017, that's 8-24 in two years. How many coaches survive that?

EDIT: and let's be real: 2018 doesn't look a lot rosier. The roster is a mess.

And that is where the Jets front office screwed it up. They went for the quick fix at first to try to win instead of gutting the roster and doing a longer rebuild through the draft. It worked for a year but now look where it got them.

They've always done this. They did it in the first two years of Rex' tenure; they deliberately tried to front-load their roster and damn the consequences down the line. It worked, sort of, but not well enough to get to the Super Bowl and they were promptly fucked for years afterwards. Now they've done the same thing again. They're a horribly-run organization.

Yes the problem lies in the ownership/front office. I have no doubt that the go for it now moves were under Woody's directive.

They are making decent moves now that Trump got Woody busy doing something besides chasing the back page. The QB situation and the offensive line are major concerns. I'm hoping the kid from PSU is good enough to get on the field but I'm not optimistic. I am expecting the defense to be way better so even being overly pessimistic I'm setting myself up for a fall.

At least their QB's of the future come from college programs with great reputations for leadership and character.

And this is why we love you. Never has a more Jetsian thing ever been uttered.

Good point about getting Woody the hell off the continent. That can only help the team improve.

I can't see the Jets in the playoffs until at least 2019, maybe longer. They suck
That would make it over Fifty years of futility.

They wouldn't have a fan under the age of 60 at that point who can remember their last Super Bowl appearance/win.

The Chiefs are on deck, the Lions....................zero Super Bowl appearances.

The D should be better but the offense finished 30th in points last year and somehow managed to get worse, losing its best receiver, its best offensive lineman, and getting even older at QB.

At pub trivia last night one of the questions was "Who was the first AFL team to win a Super Bowl?"

Forty-eight years and counting!

The Patriots had more playoff victories last year than the Lions have in the Superbowl era. As much as we rag on Jets fans, imagine that track record.

As bad as the Jets have been, the Lions are the worst. Haven't had a championship in 60 years, their high water mark was the 1992 NFCCG and they got demolished by the Redskins. They are the only NFC team that has not been to a Super Bowl.

That is one pathetic track record for sure.

His agent Brian Mackler was on NFL Radio right now pissed off "If this was in the plans it should have happened in February." Says Harris has been "well compensated" and invested well and considering impact on his family while contemplating next move.
