Doesn't Roberts fill this role already?

I'd think a reserve LB has to give some special teams value. Maualuga played like 12% of Cincinnati's ST snaps last year; I'd think they'd want more, which probably means a younger player.
Freeny, I'd assume.

Not sure where to put this and it absolutely does not deserve it's own thread, but in the "sponsored stories" column of the SI.com home page there is an article "Ex-Patriots Cornerback Headed To Prison For Ponzi Scheme" (no, I'm providing a link). I click on it and discover it's Will Allen. I try to think of a Will Allen playing CB for the Patriots and can't - is my memory failing? No, turns out he played five seasons with the Giants and six with the Dolphins, then signed a one-year deal at the vet min with the Patriots and was placed on IR before the season started and never played again.

Those cheat-y Patriots always cheating people!

"the nation's tears", perhaps? Or wasn't there a thread about biased coverage of the Patriots, perhaps titled "it's not paranoia if they're actually out to get us" or the like?

But yeah that's pretty absurd. Not ESPN-insinuating-the-Tomase-thing level obnoxious, but more "you gotta be kidding me".

Isn't the whole point of sponsored stories to be the clickbaitiest of the clickbait? It's hard for me to get upset that some ad guy thinks he'll get more clicks by indirectly appealing to the notion of a Pats-cheating connection.

Exactly. I should have put it in one the threads Face mentions, or not at all, but I was still a little drunk from breakfast and got lazy.

Carry on.

Not sure which one is following and which one is leading, but I don't think either the Lions or the Bengals have ever really even tried.

I thought the Bengals color rush unis were bad ass and would have been perfect if the helmet could have been white with black stripes

I just put my scared three year old daughter back to bed. I will not be going back to sleep now after seeing this on ESPN. I can't even imagine...

Brutal story for Heap and his family. I agree, it's tough to come back from that. It's "what if" for the rest of your life.

Goddammit. It shouldn't happen to anyone, but Heap is a really good guy.

The feeling getting out of the truck must have been unfathomable. So incredibly sad and tragic.

Two sentences from an article on ESPN struck me.

Since 2007, Heap and his wife have operated a foundation to help sick and disadvantaged children.

(This confirms sentiments above. Separately, the Baltimore Sun reports he pledged $1 million to Med-Star for a pediatric unit).

Second, attempts by the AP to reach Heap Saturday were unsuccessful.

(This happened yesterday, I believe. Do you motherfuckers have no decency? There is little if any news value in this beyond a man's broken heart. Reporting it can wait a few days.)

Yeah, that is a horrific story. My kids are older, but as a parent I couldn't imagine anything like this. I can't even begin to understand the pain the parents are going through.

I mean, how do you even keep going after something like that? Obviously you never really move on. I can't even imagine. That is horrifying.
By keeping other family members -- and especially your other kids -- in mind. We cannot compound the tragedy by ruining other lives, especially young lives. I imagine that is the thought process beyond whatever comfort one can get from religion. Heap comes from generations of Mormons. I don't know how religious he is.

What a tragic trauma he and the rest of his family must now find a way to navigate through. I wish then all the strength they need.

The GMC truck banner ads all around the Heap story on ESPN.com might be proof that the machines aren't quite ready to take over yet. Not a good look at all.

Jesus can we please stop with these jokes that weren't funny when they were initially written every time someone isn't suspended four games?

Honestly, people complaining about people who make DFG related comments and snark are way more annoying than the actual DFG related comments and snark at this point. Just ignore it.

Of course, instead of expressing your annoyance, you could equally ignore those who complain about people making DFG comments.

While I thought it was more probable than not that I would get this as a response, I figured since that point hadn't been made yet, it was okay to do so. However, I will eschew making such comments going forward.

And now the people responsible for the sacking have been sacked.

Meh, I'll take one comment compared to the same five jokes by the same ten people whenever anybody is suspended. A man can only take so much.

What does that do to the saints Cap? They where tight to begin with. And now the rumor they have a contract worked out with Butler if compensation can be agreed upon.

They may WANT to trade the 11 (and 32 LOL) just so they dont have so much money tied up in draft pick compensation.
