Figured maybe we could have a thread for some of the out of town games the rest of the season.

Lots of games of interest to the B's tonight.

TOR/FLA
TBL/OTT
CHI/MTL
NYI/CAR

The OTT/TBL one is a tough one to choose. Kind of want OTT to win to get TBL a few more points behind, I think. And really just want TOR/FLA to not go to OT.

FLA is probably done so I'm on the Strombone bandwagon tonight.

Edit: Carolina up 2-0 on NYI halfway through 2. They're up 10-4 on NYI over the past 4.5 periods on their home and road.

FLA looks to be in the clear against TOR. TB and OTT are tied after two and it looks like NYI is going to at least get one point tonight. Habs are down 2-0 after two.

Just coming here to post that. Bruins 3 points up on Toronto (Leafs have 1 game in hand), 4 points up on Islanders, 5 points on TB.

11 games to play.

The explanation is that Panik (with the puck at the top of the screen) didn't touch the puck until Toews touched the blue line. Thus, Panik didn't "have control."

Because the official declaration was "inconclusive," I believe they were saying they could not overturn because they couldn't conclude Panik touched the puck (thus had control) before Toews tagged up.

The broadcasters (even notorious Chicago homers) sad they were confident the goal would be wiped out (Colorado was appealing because of the offside violation). They were incredulous when it was deemed a good goal, but then got the low-down on the rule and the review.

Doesn't Toews have to touch the white on the other side of the blue line, though? I thought once you or the puck was in the zone, you were in the zone until you touch the white ice outside of the blue line....

2-5. Just 2-5 against Ottawa and Toronto this year and the B's are sitting pretty.

But, NOOOOOOOO, they have to get exactly zero points against them. They deserve this.

Polak just almost killed a guy. Boarding major. Then he acted like he got hurt on the play so he wouldn't have to answer the bell. Puke.

Key this week is to salvage 4 points from their critical slate of games this week, and avoid giving a point to the Isles. That will put them at least 4 points in the wild card, although the Islanders will still have a game in hand (6 if the Isle's lose in Pittsburgh tomorrow night).

The only thing working in the B's favor is that the teams not named NY or Tampa have a tough slog to catch up, and the B's can still control their own destiny with 2 regulation wins this week. And there is only one remaining back-to-back, and the tail end of that is likely an L anyway (in Chicago).

The Island
Maybe, but like I said in the game thread, they need two out of the three chasing teams (Toronto, Tampa Bay, NY Islanders) to play well down the stretch to knock the Bruins out. Their schedules are definitely interesting down the stretch.

First, the Bruins' schedule:
Tonight vs. Tampa Bay
Sat. @ NY Islanders
Tues. 3/28 vs. Nashville
Thurs. 3/30 vs. Dallas
Sat. 4/1 vs. Florida
Sun. 4/2 @ Chicago
Tues. 4/4 vs. Tampa Bay
Thurs. 4/6 vs. Ottawa
Sat. 4/8 vs. Washington

Toronto:
Tonight vs. New Jersey
Sat. @Buffalo
Tues. 3/28 vs. Florida
Thurs. 3/30 @ Nashville
Sat. 4/1 @ Detroit
Mon. 4/3 @Buffalo
Tues. 4/4 vs. Washington
Thurs. 4/6 vs. Tampa Bay
Sat. 4/8 vs. Pittsburgh
Sun 4/9 vs. Columbus

NY Islanders:
Fri. @ Pittsburgh
Sat. vs. Bruins
Mon. 3/27 vs. Nashville
Thurs. 3/30 @ Philadelphia
Fri. 3/31 vs. New Jersey
Sun. 4/2 @ Buffalo
Tues. 4/4 @ Nashville
Thurs. 4/6 @ Carolina
Sat. 4/8 @ New Jersey
Sun. 4/9 vs. Ottawa

Tampa Bay:
Tonight @ Bruins
Tomorrow @ Detroit
Mon. 3/27 vs. Chicago
Thurs. 3/30 vs. Detroit
Sat. 4/1 vs. Montreal
Sun 4/2 vs. Dallas
Tues. 4/4 @ Bruins
Thurs. 4/6 @ Toronto
Fri. 4/7 @ Montreal
Sun. 4/9 vs. Buffalo

From that, I think Tampa's in trouble (5 points back, 1 game in hand, lots of tough games). On the other hand, the Islanders can probably surge if they play well on the road (six road games left, but only tomorrow's game in Pittsburgh involves a clearly better team). Toronto's the wild card in this, as they have some cupcakes coming up and end on a 4-game homestand, but that home stretch is BRUTAL (playing all three top Metro teams in a week, including Pittsburgh and Columbus on back-to-back to end the regular season). If the Metro division spots are all up for grabs still on the last weekend, Toronto could be flattened just because they'll all want the perk of facing a weak Atlantic/NY Islanders team over the other team that didn't win the division.

tl;dr: The Bruins have to step up, but they're still in a decent spot all things considered.

They need to win these next two games or they're screwed. Losing 5 in a row with what happened the last two years would send them in a tailspin. It would be nice if Rask could put a zero up tonight.

I get that just making the playoffs is an accomplishment in and of itself and we'd be happy with it, but realistically they need to get into third place and avoid being swapped out to the Metro (only to serve as cannon fodder for the Caps and Pens) to have any chance of making some kind of run.

Nice work penguins. Nyi scores with 1 second left.
Edit: Isles get hosed on interference.

I like how they play when matched up with Pitt. Washington not so much.

Isles down 2-1 with 15 min left. Tampa has rallied from down 4-1 to tie Chicago after 2. Wings leading Hurricanes 3-2 with 9 min left.

Stupid ass Chicago is going to lay down to all these teams but Sunday they will come out flying and kill the Bruins. They're annoying

This is coming from a place of absolute bias, but the loser point is fucking stupid. Toronto has to win out to finish with more wins than losses this season but because they lose in OT more, they are in the driver seat against the Bruins. Of course, the Bruins deserve this, but that is a stupid rule.

I'd be all for this if they also get rid of the gimmick, oh I'm sorry, shootout.

It was a boring final 5 minutes, and a bring OT, back when there were real ties. Is that really what you want to go back to? That's the reason for the point -- OT used to be snoozer because no one wanted to take a chance on coming away with zero.

I don't have a problem if they keep the loser point but they should go to the 3-2-1 model yesterday.

I'd make them play 3 on 3 in overtime until someone scores. Get rid of points all together. A win or a loss and games behind in the standings.
