With all due respect to the OSU o-line, the youth really wouldn't matter. Clemson's d line has been wrecking everyone they've played. Lawrence needs a double, sometimes a triple to keep him out of the backfield. Wilkins is a legit beast. It's allowed Bret to rush 3, drop 8 and really put pressure in ways Clemson hasn't the last few years.
That too. Congrats to you and the Clemson fanbase - this was a thorough demolition.

We've been saying we'll go to Tampay (4 of us), but I just checked Stubhub and the tickets are 700 upper corner, 2k for lower deck sideline. We'll see. Good win tonight though. Thanks

Never thought I'd see the day where the sec and acc basically traded places
I wouldn't go that far -- LSU absolutely smoked Louisville.

But you're absolutely right that the SEC has fallen back to the pack. There's more parity in college football than there has been in a long time. The Big XII is a tick behind, but the conventional wisdom greatly overstates the differences between the other four P5 conferences.

Just think: last year, no Deion Cain, no Mike Williams... Excited for this rematch.

Michigan had a billion seniors, a bunch of NFL prospects and eight home games. The results? Another loss to OSU. No B1G title. No playoff. Not even a bowl win. Zero out-of-state wins against teams not named "Rutgers." Gigantic failure.

Meyer took over a 6-7 team and didn't lose a regular season game his first two years. Tressel took over a team that had gone 6-7 and 8-4 the previous two years, beat Michigan each of his first two years including as a big dog on the road with a third-string QB making his first start and then won a national title in his second year. Poor St. Jimmy just has the deck stacked against him though.
This guy gets it.

I mean the fans of the great Ohio State and the great Urban Meyer are reduced to talking about a game they won five weeks ago while they are actually in the College Playoff. What a time to be alive.
In fairness, it is a lot sweeter to get the shit kicked out of you in this game than the alternative.

Not talking smack - serious question...has Barrett regressed or not developed much? He was seen as a prodigy when he was a freshman, no? He has seemed pretty marginal as a passer this year.
Serious answer, he is not a great passer. He is an effective dual threat behind a good line but this has been a rare down year for the tOSU o-line and he is not a strong enough QB to make up for it. He'll be back next season but I'm not sure whether he will be the starter. We'll see.

Yammers mom will comfort the entire OSU team tonight.
Seriously, you waited this long to get back at me and this was your best shot? You make me sad Dave Gallagher.

And it takes a lot to make me sad because your mom takes me ball deep in her dirt box more nights than not. And that makes me smile. Because your mom has a tight fart hole Dave Gallagher, and she knows how to use it.

The rematch aspect is really cool. Didn't realize how rare that is in college, but the media is starting to pick up on it and it should be a fresh angle on the game in the week runup.

Receiving corp is not only stocked but they are all healthy. Pretty sure Tay and Ray Ray were coming off some nagging knee issues this time last year. They've got a million ways to attack a team, moving the ball hasn't been an issue this year, TO's have been, so they'll need to play clean to win. But when they do, they look pretty strong.

I think you've adopted a healthy perspective on this. Besides, the hipsters were probably rocking in the new year with Dick Clark or Anderson Cooper, as the game was for all intents and purposes was over in the 1st qtr.

T&P on your FiL

Happy New Year.

Kiffin is off to FAU effective immediately; Sark will be Bama's OC for the Clemson game.

Still can't believe he's FAU bound. At this rate he'll be coaching Bowdoin in three years.
I was surprised too, until he proved incapable of finishing his job at Bama with grace. He lacks the soft skills to be a head coach at a high-profile program, and I think people in the know recognized that before the rest of us did.

Kirby Smart had no problem sticking around for the both games and accomplishing his duties at Georgia. Jim McElwain only had one game but he was fine too. This is really weird.

The fact he missed the bus again couldn't have sat well with Saban. I think Nick is using the dual coaching duties point as an excuse to get rid of him. Those two have clashed a lot over his tenure. This is also gamesmenship with Clemson as Sark now could call things differently than Kiffin.

I'm not sure if Saban was that pissed about Kiffin's public comments (which were inappropriate, but arguably not worth such an extreme reaction), or if the public comments were just the tip of the iceberg.

It's also possible that Saban liked Sark better than Kiffin all along, and the public comments gave him the pretext to make the move he wanted to make all along. (This would also explain Kiffin jumping at the FAU job -- maybe he was out as Bama's OC after the season regardless.)

I think it is possible that he realizes that he can't be effective in a major program at this point in his life. He acted like an idiot when he was given the spotlight at UT and USC alike and maybe he recognizes that being in a slightly lower pressure environment might be a good step.

After he bolted UT it was clear that he was going to struggle to find jobs. There is a lot you can say about UT, but it can be a very, very sweet little gig with a rabid fanbase and world class facilities. If he leaves that gig after one season why would he stay at (insert your school here)??

I would be surprised if he bolts FAU after one season. I think he needs a run of bowls and possibly a conference title to get looks from bigger schools. And by bigger I mean mid-tier power fives.

I think Tennessee is overrated as a job. Unrealistic expectations and subpar recruiting territory. The coach has to recruit the whole southeast and it's not a big national brand. Everyone in the conference except Kentucky and Vandy has better recruiting territory, so for blue chips there are few easy gets nearby. I will say years of meh seems to have tempered the expectations somewhat

Oh I can't see him bolting FAU after one season. That would be career suicide.

I disagree on Tennessee. All schools have unrealistic expectations, and while Tennessee isn't big now following 10+ years of futility, they were a pretty big deal in the Manning/Martin/Fulmer era and before. They can draw kids in my opinion.

Am I the only guy around here who had Wisconsin -7 1/2 and covered only by virtue of a missed Western Michigan kicked PAT with three minutes left in the game? Book my ticket to Coverville!

I'm liking 2017 just fine so far.

Sure wish they'd stop playing that terrible California Dreaming cover around the commercial breaks.

So is Penn State dead already or fortunate not to be down 21-0 and therefore in good shape for a comeback?

As a mich fan, I'm conflicted watching QBs like mcsorley who run. On one hand, I'm forced to acknowledge the success Urban Meyer and others have had with such players...on the other hand, it's gotta be hard watching the key to your offense take one hit after another from linebackers. Hell, mcsorley blocks on some plays after he pitches the ball (that's assuming he doesn't sacrifice his body on the pitch)

You'd think PSU would keep running til USC stops it, but they keep passing.

Mcsorley was such a force late in the season - so many successful balls downfield. I'm sure they are loathe to give up on that aspect of their offense

Were any of the conferences ridiculously overrated this year? Getting asked by ten big people.
