I do hope that these guys get back on the court early enough to give the Celtics a good shot at evaluating them. I would think both Tatum and Giles would be in the mix where the Celtics should be drafting.
We all know Coach K and Duke will load up every year. Question is can UNC keep up.Ho hum #8 recruit who wants to package with the #3

Depending on who leaves and as long as Roy remains the boss, UNC basketball is dead being any kind of competitive after this year, so I'll enjoy one final team that has an outside shot at a title. We all know Coach K and Duke will load up every year. Question is can UNC keep up.
UNC just lost out on PJ Washington to Kentucky. UNC doesn't look good to get Kevin Knox who is leaning towards Duke or Kentucky. Jarred Vanderbilt is another 5 star they are in on, but there's a good chance he doesn't go to Chapel Hill. They also lost out on 4 star Garrison Brooks to Miss St. I know his father coaches there, but that is still a bad sign of recruiting issues.
So far they have Jalek Felton (nephew of Raymond) and a bunch of 3 star guys. Future isn't looking great if you base it on recruiting rankings.
UNC is really lacking true NBA talent - Guys that will be starters in the NBA. Hopefully freshmen Seventh Woods and Tony Bradley are better than their rankings, otherwise a chance to compete with Duke for ACC and to get another national championship will be tough.
Hasn't been easy since academic scandal, but Roy needs to figure it out.
Not sure who would answer that bell.Maybe they need a new coach.
Ha, hopefully Shaka Smart. Can I say Brad Stevens if I'm a Cs fan? Stealing Tony Bennett wouldn't be bad either.Maybe they need a new coach.
You're probably right. Assistant coaches need to be held accountable too. Not sure any of these guys are elite recruiters or eventual head coaches.Depending on who leaves and as long as Roy remains the boss, UNC basketball is dead being any kind of competitive after this year, so I'll enjoy one final team that has an outside shot at a title.
And yes, it's way more on Roy than the "scandal."
Just to be clear, that's my opinion, it has not been confirmed. But I cannot see Carolina ever hiring somebody outside the "family," and he's the only guy who fits.Hubie? Man I love the guy but talk about in over his head as HC of UNC
From an outside look I agree. While we don't get to see their practices it is tough to assess. But what is Hubie responsible for? It's not like the defense has been elite so I can't imagine he's a defensive minded coach. Roy clearly has his offensive system. Hubie recruits? Hasn't been winning much there either. Hubie could fill it by the time he was a senior at UNC, but he was never a cerebal type player. I think he would get abused by the top ACC coaches.Hubie? Man I love the guy but talk about in over his head as HC of UNC
Once Roy retires, they should knock on Sean Miller's door and leave a blank check and tell him to write his dollar amount needed in.Good comp on Indiana and UCLA. I see that direction for UNC, unfortunately (well... written with just a smidge of glee)
The guy who has never been to a Final Four despite signing top three class after top three class? No thanks.Once Roy retires, they should knock on Sean Miller's door and leave a blank check and tell him to write his dollar amount needed in.
If he's signing top 3 classes at Arizona, he's a great recruiter who with UNC's cache could attract better recruits than what UNC is currently getting. AZ is no chop liver but it's not on UNC's level. They could do far worse than Miller(like say Hubert Davis). The guy who has never been to a Final Four despite signing top three class after top three class? No thanks.
shhGreg, JSHAMS:
Do we want to talk about Tony Bradley or just keep this on the down low for a bit?
